The American Education system lacks a standardized national curriculum in elementary education. Education in the United States is primarily decentralized, with each state having the authority to establish its education policies. The lack of a standardized national curriculum can result in differences in instruction content, depth, and pacing from one frame to another. Students in different states can have different exposure and understanding of certain subjects. It can create challenges for students who move between states.
It may take time to get comfortable with the new curriculum. However, some efforts are being made to establish educational benchmarks and guidelines at the national level, such as the Common Core State Standards Initiative.
