We all know that the College Board overhauled the pattern for SAT exams last month. Let\u2019s look at the Key Changes before moving further:<\/span><\/p>\n

• The SAT Exams will now be <\/span>digital<\/b> instead of a pen and paper exam.<\/span><\/li>\n
• Exam duration to be reduced from 3 hours to <\/span>2 hours<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
• Students can take the exam on a <\/span>personal or school-issued device<\/b>, but in the presence of a proctor.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  In November, 2021, College Board piloted the new pattern, and<\/span><\/p>\n

  • 80% of students<\/strong> responded that they found it to be less stressful\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 100% of educators<\/strong> reported having a positive experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Some Context:<\/span><\/h2>\n

    SAT has been infamous to favor the kids from high income families, here\u2019s why:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Kids from\u00a0high income families<\/strong>\u00a0can take the\u00a0test several times\u00a0<\/strong>that results in\u00a0improved scores,\u00a0<\/strong>which may not be true for the kids from low income families.<\/li>\n
    • Students studying in better schools<\/strong> have an added advantage in college applications. These schools have a higher number of AP classes, better tutors, and standardized test prep, that lead to better grades.<\/li>\n
    • SAT also has a provision to opt for\u00a0special privileges like\u00a0extra time and private space<\/strong>\u00a0to take the test. But these come\u00a0with additional incurred charges which\u00a0can only be afforded by students from high-income strata.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      According to the <\/span>Washington Post<\/span><\/a>, in 2014, \u201cstudents from families earning more than $200,000 a year average a combined score of 1,714, while students from families earning under $20,000 a year average a combined score of 1,326.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
